On here you will find a selection of our class’ learning overviews, key information and useful links to support your children with their learning.
If you wish to contact your child’s class teacher, the best way to do so is to contact the school office on 01772783555 or via email swinder@longridge.lancs.sch.uk
Although we use SeeSaw for class work, staff do not have time to respond to messages sent on there during the working day, so the quickest and most effective way to contact them is to message Miss Winder or Mrs Bramhall in the school office.

In Year 4 we will be covering a range of exciting topics!
In English we will cover a variety of different texts, from poetry and narratives of different genres to non-fiction texts such as leaflets and articles.
In Maths we will cover place value, addition and subtraction and multiplication and division, as well as delving into statistics work, geometry and starting to look further at fractions and decimals.
In Guided Reading we will immerse ourselves in a wide range of texts and will use a variety of techniques to develop our understanding of reading.
In our topics we will look at:
Science: Digestion, electricity and circuits, states of matter, sound and vibrations and classification and changing habitats.
History: How children's lives have changed, the Anglo-Saxons and the Ancient Maya.
Geography: Rainforests, where our food comes from and why rivers are important.
French: Portraits, clothing, numbers, weather, food and the Eurovision Song Contest.
PSHE: Relationships, health and wellbeing, safety and the changing body, citizenship and economic wellbeing.
Religion and Worldviews: Looking at all religions and points of view to answer a variety of questions such as "Are all religions equal?" and "Who was Jesus really?"
Computing: Collaborative learning, website design, computational thinking, data handling and online safety.
PE: Team games, attack games, teamwork, gymnastics and swimming.
Art and Design: Tone, texture and proportion and printing and repeating patterns.
Design and Technology: Structures, slingshot cars and torches.
Music: Scales, creating music, timing, improvisation, rhythm and pitch.
Our P.E days are Wednesdays and Fridays. Children should come in to school in their PE kits on these days.
Near the end of Year 4, children are required to complete the MTC (Multiplication and Tables Check) which involves answering 25 questions from all times tables up to 12 x 12. In Year 3 & Year 4, children will practice their tables in class regularly, but would benefit from short, regular practice at home, too.
We use Times Tables Rock Stars as a support for this. We ask that you work with your child to complete these tasks - 2 minutes a day can make a massive difference to their ability to retain and use these facts.
Our Spelling scheme is Spelling Shed and children are expected to learn spellings weekly. These are handed out on a Friday after being taught in class that week and the children are tested the next Friday.
