Working Hard, Trying our Best, Having Fun

Opening Times

Our School Day

The school day starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.30pm.  Registration is from 9.00am to 9.10am. Children can arrive between 8.50am and 9.00am and settle into class before the school day starts.

Morning playtimes

At 10.30am we have break until 10.45am. KS2 children can purchase toast from the school kitchen at this break Monday to Thursday. KS1 children receive free fruit on a daily basis for break time. On Friday break we have a Fair Trade Snack Stall run by Year 6 pupils that any child can go to.

Lunch

Children in Nursery have their lunch at 12.00am and their break ends at 1.00pm.  Those in YR, Y1 and Y2 have lunch at 12.00 noon. Y3 – Y6 children begin their break at 12.15pm. Lunchtimes for YR-Y6 end at 1.15pm.

Afternoon playtimes:

Children have an afternoon playtime at 2.45pm.

Assembly

We have whole school assembly, Monday to Thursday 3.00pm and on a Friday we meet at 2.30pm before Golden Time. On the last Friday of each month we hold a special Golden Book Assembly where certificates are presented and children share their interests and hobbies.

Drop-off and collection

For children in Nursery the drop off and pick up point is at the door at the front of school on Barnacre Road. For the rest of school, parents of younger children are asked to bring their children into the playground at the beginning and end of the school day. This helps to build up a close relationship between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents.  Once the children move through school we encourage you to slowly allow the children to become more independent by dropping off/collecting from the school gate or Sainsbury’s. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know.  This avoids any confusion or upset.

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park at Sainsbury’s and walk the short distance down Barnacre Road.

Barn Owls Club

We run a before and after school club on our premises from 7.30am – 8.50am and 3.30pm – 6.00pm. For further details please contact Barn Owl Club on 07704264792 or school on 01772 783555.

After School Clubs

The children are very lucky at Barnacre Road because many staff run voluntary after school clubs until 4.30pm. We do not run the clubs between November and February because of the dark evenings and Christmas events in December.
