Our School Day

The school day starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.30pm.  Registration is from 9.00am to 9.10am. Children can arrive between 8.50am and 9:00am to settle into class before the school day starts. The school week is typically 32.5 hours for pupils of school age. 

Morning playtimes

At 10.30am we have break until 10.45am. KS1 children receive free fruit on a daily basis for break time. 

Lunch

Children in Nursery have their lunch at 11.45am and their break ends at 12.45pm.

The rest of the school have their lunch at 12.00 noon and ends at 1.00pm.

Afternoon playtimes:

KS1 children have an afternoon playtime at 2.20pm until 2.30pm.

Assembly

We have a whole school assembly on Fridays (awards presented). On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's assembly and reflection time is held in class.

Drop-off and collection

For children in Nursery and Owlets the drop off and pick up point is at the classroom doors at the left side of school. For the rest of school, parents of younger children are asked to bring their children to the classroom external door at the beginning and collect children at the end of the school day. This helps to build up a close relationships between home and school – we want to have good links with all parents.  Once the children move through school we encourage you to slowly allow the children to become more independent by dropping off/collecting from the school gate or Sainsbury’s. If normal arrangements have to be altered (eg. you are delayed or another person is collecting your child), please let us know.  This avoids any confusion or upset. There will always be a senior member staff available at drop off and pick point; please feel free to ask questions. 

Getting to school

To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option, if feasible. There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users, and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. Alternatively, we have bike-racks. If you do need to travel by car, please park at Sainsbury’s and walk the short distance down Barnacre Road.

Barn Owl Club

We run a before and after school club on our premises from 7.30am – 8.50am and 3.30pm – 6.00pm. For further details please contact Barn Owl Club on 01772 783555 option 2.

After School Clubs

At Barnacre Road because many staff run voluntary after school clubs until 4.15pm.  These are refreshed on a regular basis and booking forms are sent home with children.
